NRA Basic Pistol Course Teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for owning and operating a pistol safely. This class is at least 8-hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot revolvers and semi-automatic pistols. Students learn rules for safe gun handling; pistol parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest position, and two handed standing positions; cleaning the pistol; and continued opportunities for skill development. Basic Shotgun Class Teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for the safe and proper use of a shotgun in shooting a moving target. This course is at least 8 hours long and includes classroom and range time learning how to shoot shotguns at moving targets. Students learn rules for safe gun handling; shotgun parts and operation; shotgun shell components; shotgun shell malfunctions; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting at straight away and angled targets; cleaning; and continued opportunities for skill development.
NRA Basic Personal Protection In The Home Course Teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to the safe and efficient use of a handgun for protection of self and family, and to provide information on the law-abiding individual’s right to self-defense. This is an eight-hour (8) course. Students should expect to shoot approximately 100 rounds of ammunition. Students will learn basic defensive shooting skills, strategies for home safety and responding to a violent confrontation, firearms and the law, how to choose a handgun for self-defense, and continued opportunities for skill development.NRA Basic Pistol Course Certificate or NRA FIRST Steps Course Certificate or other "proof" of shooting experience MUST be presented before attending class. Defensive Pistol Comprehensive and intensive in its approach to equip the defensive shooting candidate with the skills needed to survive serious adversity. The class teaches students the knowledge, skills and attitude essential for avoiding dangerous confrontations and for the safe, effective and responsible use of a concealed pistol for self-defense. This class would be beneficial to those who have a CCW permit but did not received any live fire drills past Qualifying. The course is primarily comprised of range drills. Course length approximately 4 hours with a night shoot.
Advance Pistol Teach the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for owning and using a pistol safely. The course is approximately 4 hour long, on the range – practical exercises (no classroom here), and uses approximately 200 rounds. The fundamentals and basics of carrying, handling, and using a firearm are explained, demonstrated and applied in practice and in a “controlled” practical setting to familiarize the students with the techniques and the application thereof. This foundation of instruction is designed to build the students’ confidence level and proficiency, so when the student is confronted with most any possible situation, he/she can defend himself/herself in a competent, effective, safe and authorized manner. Nevada Concealed Weapons Permit (CCW) The course teaches students the basic knowledge, skills and attitude essential for avoiding dangerous confrontations and for the safe, effective, responsible, and Legal use of a concealed pistol for self-defense. Teaches safe firearms handling and proper mindset; to presentation from concealment and multiple shooting positions, this course contains the essential skills and techniques needed to prevail in a life-threatening situation. This class meets the minimum requirements of the Nevada Sheriff and Chief Association (NVSCA) and teaches the laws of the state of Nevada and the counties were the permit is submitted. Participants in this course must be at least 20 years of age and possess basic pistol skills, including but not limited to: Basic pistol functions; load, unload; Aiming; and Holstering. Participants must also understand the basic legal concepts relating to the use of firearms in self-defense, and must know and observe not only general gun safety rules, but also those safety principles that are specific to defensive situations.
